WorldSkills is the world’s largest international competition for skilled trades and technologies, bringing together the best young skilled professionals from more than 80 countries and regions. Held every two years, the competition celebrates excellence, innovation, and the importance of skilled careers on a global stage.
For Skills Nunavut, WorldSkills represents the highest level of achievement in skills development. It is an opportunity to showcase the talent, determination, and potential of Nunavummiut while demonstrating that competitors from Canada’s North can excel alongside the world’s best.
The journey to WorldSkills begins at the community level through Skills Nunavut programs and competitions. Competitors who excel at the Territorial Skills Competition may advance to the Skills Canada National Competition, where they have the opportunity to be identified for Team Canada. Selected competitors undergo extensive training before representing Canada at the WorldSkills Competition.
Beyond the competition itself, WorldSkills is an incredible learning experience. Competitors gain international exposure, develop technical expertise, build confidence, exchange knowledge with participants from around the world, and create lifelong friendships. They return home as ambassadors for skilled trades and technologies, inspiring the next generation of Nunavut youth to pursue rewarding careers.
Skills Nunavut is proud to support and encourage young people to dream big, challenge themselves, and strive for excellence. Whether competing locally, nationally, or on the world stage, every step in the journey helps build the skilled workforce that will shape Nunavut’s future.
