For post secondary, secondary and apprenticeships we have our annual events: The Territorial Skills Competition and Career Showcase.
Skills Clubs are afterschool programs being held at schools across Nunavut. They our run by a team of volunteers in the community for the communities youth.
Some of the Skills Clubs being offered throughout Nunavut are: Carpentry, Videography, 2D Character Animation and Baking.
Skills Camps are week or weekend long programs that are dedicated to a single trade or technology skill. Skills camps are held in any community in Nunavut.
Instructors have the opportunity to build on a weeks worth of time together and students complete the camp with an in depth knowledge of their trade.
Sink or Smin!! The Cardboard Boat or Sled Races test your engineering skills by creating a cardboard boat or sled that will hold you and your team!
This is an annual event that puts students hands on application skills to the test.
Arnauvugut is about young women having the opportunities to explore trades.
Arnauguvut programs are workshops or camps for girls aged 13 – 21. So far, these camps have been held in Rankin Inlet, Cambridge Bay, and Iqaluit covering skills from aesthetics, car maintenance and pre-trades programs.
Discovering Skills Class Presentations is our in school program that directly exposes students to the trade and technology career sectors.
We bring along a combination of hands on exposure though Try-A-Trade® Kits and have a in depth mini course for high school students for individual and trades based discovery.
Try a Trade® Kits are single or multi use activities that teachers can order for their classrooms. The kits reflect a trade or technology skill and get students to practice their hands on application skills.
Teachers can email us for a application that defines the kits we have available. After application, we send the kits!
